Se llevó a cabo la ceremonia de entrega de los Critics Choice Awards 2021 de forma híbrida por la situación actual, con algunos pocos invitados de forma presencial al estudio donde se realizaba la transmisión principal y el resto de los nominados e invitados haciendo su participación vía remota, conectándose desde algún dispositivo con internet para enterarse de los ganadores. Las miradas de la noche se las llevaron varias producciones y personas, como The Crown (con 4 victorias), Anya Taylor-Joy, Schitt’s Creek, Nomadland y un joven actor de apenas 8 años de nombre Alan S. Kim.
Hablando de Kim, el niño ganó en la categoría de Mejor actor/actriz joven, gracias a su papel en Minari y cuando supo que se llevó la estatuilla rompió en llanto frente a la cámara (mira aquí el video de Alan S. Kim), protagonizando así el momento más conmovedor de la noche. Cabe destacar que, a pesar del dominio de Netflix, Apple TV+ también logró destacar con Ted Lasso, ya que la serie con Jason Sudeikis logró tres victorias en igual cantidad de categorías en las que estaba nominada, según consignó el portal SensaCine.
